Gambrinus is a pub and restaurant at the corner of Bnei Brit and Menachem Begin boulevards in Ashdod's City quarter (Rova HaKirya), in a building whose street address is 45 HaTziyonut Street. mako's Lin Levi, listing Ashdod's best restaurants in April 2025, described it as a pub-restaurant with a 1990s vibe, tucked away on the edge of a residential neighbourhood, that has become an open secret among locals. Inside, as mako's Rita Goldstein described it in August 2025, are wooden walls, huge dark-wood tables and wide benches where families with children and groups of friends sit together, quick waiters with notebook and pen, and a barman long past 60 pouring beer after beer; she called it the closest thing in Israel to a real English pub. Its menu, in Hebrew, Russian and English, runs from Gambrinus chips (cubes of fried potato under grated Bulgarian cheese), potatoes in a creamy mushroom sauce and toasts to shrimp in garlic butter, fried calamari, whole sea bream and sea bass, smoked trout, aged entrecôte, lamb chops, pork spareribs and lamb sausages, and the main dishes come with salad, potato and butter. There is a cocktail list too, and in 2017 mako's Gil Gutkin found a huge range of beers, with the waiters helping guests choose. Goldstein wrote that the chips are one of the house's best-known dishes and that every table orders the pan of shrimp in butter and garlic. It takes table bookings by phone for groups of more than six, opens in the evening from Monday to Thursday, from 14:30 on Friday and from 12:30 on Saturday, and is closed on Sunday. As early as 2017 Gutkin wrote that it had become something of a legend in the city, filling up almost every day of the week, with queues outside.

Sources disagree on these hours

Its website gives Monday to Thursday 17:15 to 23:00, Friday 14:30 to 23:00 and Saturday 12:30 to 23:00, and no hours for Sunday. Its Google listing, as Wanderlog copies it, has the same Friday and Saturday hours, opens at 17:30 from Monday to Thursday and is closed on Sunday. mako's list of April 2025 printed Sunday to Thursday 17:00 to 23:00, Friday 14:00 to midnight and Saturday 12:00 to 23:30, and the municipal tourism company's page for it and its listing on rol.co.il give Monday to Wednesday 18:00 to 23:00, Thursday 17:00 to midnight and Friday and Saturday 12:00 to 01:00. Its listing on d.co.il gives daytime hours that are not the restaurant's.
