Ezuz, near the Be'erotayim grove, Ezuz

A desert khan of mud, palm fronds and mats under an old acacia by the Be'erotayim oasis outside Ezuz, where every stay includes a Bedouin-style dinner and breakfast.

Khan Be'erotayim stands in the shade of an ancient acacia, built of mud, palm fronds, mats and recycled materials, with no entertainment to break the quiet, and is lit at night by oil lamps and solar lights. Guests sleep in huts or tents of their own on mattresses laid on mats, gather in a large hospitality hut for meals and around campfires with herbal tea and coffee, and every stay includes dinner and breakfast. Dinner is a hafla served around 19:30 at low seating on mats around a shared tray: mansaf of spiced ground veal or a Mexican-style meat stew on rice, hummus and tahini, seasonal salads, Bedouin pitta and lemonade with mint, then tea, coffee and baklava, with a vegetable or lentil dish for vegetarians. Breakfast is a buffet in the main building. The khan is a base for three marked cycling routes, from a 5 km family loop through the Be'erotayim stream and its tamarisk grove to a 27 km ride to the Kadesh Barnea ridge, and it hires out mountain bikes to groups of 30 or more.
