Shany is a Haifa konditoria whose first shop opened on HaAtzmaut Road in 1964 and is still there, and this branch, a cafe and cake shop, is at 29 Trumpeldor Avenue in Neve Sha'anan. Its site says Shany helped found Israel's cafe culture: it began with a young baker from Austria, Alexander Inglinder, known as Shany, who dreamed of a konditoria of European standard, and was joined by a young konditor, Arie Abramovich, who became the chain's head konditor and one of its owners. Its site says the display of cakes is as colourful as ever sixty years on, and its online shop delivers its pastries and cakes across Haifa, the Krayot, Ramat Yishai, Tivon, Yokneam and Tirat Carmel. The Neve Sha'anan branch opens Sunday to Thursday 07:00 to 20:00 and Friday 07:00 to 15:00.
