Rotem's is the guest house of Rotem Ratner, a yoga teacher who grew up in Paran, and Rotem Koren, a builder in earth and straw bales, who by their own account met while serving in the desert nearby and built the place with their own hands. Its four cabins, made of earth and natural materials, each have a kitchenette, a sitting corner, a bathroom, ceiling fans and air conditioning, with no television and no whirlpool bath; each pair of cabins shares a deck. Guests share an outdoor kitchen, a half-open central building for group meals, a fenced pool five metres across and a deli of handmade local produce, from wine and cheeses to dates and Paran ice cream. Pets are welcome. In the middle of the compound stands the Desert Spirit yoga yurt, with weekly classes and, by arrangement, workshops in yoga and in building with earth.
