Mako's guide to Sderot of June 2026 calls HaHummus shel Tehina the student face of the city. It opened 16 years earlier, in a small hut in the town centre, for young people who wanted good hummus near home. Shai Siegel, Tomer Ades and Neta Kraus, who began there as a waitress and became a partner, reopened it in February 2025 after a year and a half shut and a wide renovation paid for by crowdfunding. The hummus comes topped with coloured masabacha, a green one with parsley sauce and a red one with tomato sauce, and the flagship dish, Ramzor (traffic light), has both. Mako says it now has a second branch by the university in Be'er Sheva.
