A Bukharan restaurant on Derech Ben Zvi, founded in 1995 by a chef from Samarkand

Samarkand was founded in 1995 by the father of the family, Eliyahu Pozailov, who had worked as a chef at a restaurant in Samarkand in Uzbekistan, and its site says it was the first restaurant in the country to bring Bukharan hospitality to the Israeli public. The secrets of the Uzbek kitchen passed from father to son and grandson, and the cooking still follows the traditional methods. The staff explain the meats, dumplings, soups and pastries on the menu, and long tables are opened at lunch and in the evening. Birthdays can be held in a side room or in the large hall, which takes up to 80 people. It has two branches: the first in Or Yehuda and this one in Tel Aviv.
