Shmulik Cohen is a family restaurant of East European Jewish home cooking at 146 Herzl Street. Its booking page says it was founded in 1936 by Shmulik Cohen's mother and calls it the oldest restaurant in Israel; its site tells how Shmulik and his wife Carmela worked beside his mother Rivka, how their daughter Tzipi Rozin grew up among the pots and still runs the kitchen, and how her son Tomer now manages the place. The menu keeps the old dishes: gefilte fish, salted and pickled fish, chopped liver, ptcha, gribenes, kishke, kreplach and varenikes, with soups, mains and desserts. Its site says it is kosher, mehadrin and glatt. It is open from Monday to Friday, until 15:00 on Friday, and also sells its food for delivery and pickup.
