Avi's Restaurant has been part of Tiberias since 1977, when it opened as a tea house serving more than 20 kinds of tea; in 1982 it became a full restaurant with a Tiberian kitchen. It was founded by the late Avi Batan, and its site says it has always specialised in fresh fish from the Sea of Galilee: St Peter's fish (amnon), buri and musar, served in several ways and in a marinade of its own. Beside the fish come fresh home-made salads, meat on the grill and roasted vegetables. It hosts events and groups of up to 120 in its own hall, with a kosher menu planned for each group.
