Abd el-Aziz el-Zoubi was born in 1926 in Nazareth

El-Zoubi was born in Nazareth in 1926, during the Mandate era, into the Zoubi family. The family has produced several Knesset members and mayors. After high school he studied at the Arab College in Jerusalem.

He worked as a clerk for the Mandate authorities. After 1948 he joined the civil service and worked at the Israel Lands Authority until 1958, and he was secretary of the Government Workers Union in Nazareth. In 1956 he was among the founders of the Jewish Arab Association for Peace and Equal Rights.

He joined Mapam in 1958 and served as deputy mayor of Nazareth from 1961. In 1965 he was elected mayor with the votes of Rakah, against his party's position. He failed to form a broad coalition and resigned after 3 months.

He entered the Knesset in 1965 and was reelected in 1969 and 1973 on the Alignment list. In 1971 he was appointed Deputy Minister of Health in Golda Meir's government. He also edited the Arabic monthly al Fajar and sat on the editorial board of New Outlook.

In 1967 he married a Jewish woman in a civil ceremony in Cyprus. He died in February 1974 while still serving as deputy minister and Knesset member. Haviv Shimoni took his seat.
