Avishay Cohen was born in 1995 in Jerusalem

Avishay Cohen was born in Jerusalem on 19 June 1995. As a young player he did not join a professional club because he keeps the Sabbath. At 15 he joined the Beitar Jerusalem youth team, which did not play on the Sabbath.

He made his senior debut for Beitar Jerusalem in April 2014 and joined the senior squad on a regular basis in the 2015/2016 season. He later played on loan for Beitar Tel Aviv Ramla and then for Hapoel Katamon Jerusalem. In January 2019 he signed with Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv and won the State Cup with the club that season.

He returned to Beitar Jerusalem in 2022 and won the State Cup with the club in the 2022/2023 season. In September 2023 he signed with Maccabi Tel Aviv, where he won 2 league titles. He joined Ashdod in January 2026 and signed with Hapoel Petah Tikva in June 2026.

He was first called up to the Israel national team in May 2023 for the Euro 2024 qualifiers. He made his debut against Andorra in November of that year.
