Delila Hatuel was born in 1980 in Acre

Hatuel was born in Acre on November 15, 1980, into a family of fencers. Her brother Maor, her aunt Lydia Hatuel-Czuckermann and her uncle Yitzhak Hatuel also fence. She began training at age 6 at the Hapoel Acre fencing club under her father, Haim Hatuel, an Olympic coach.

In April 2008 she was ranked 9th in the world in women's foil. At the 2008 European Championships in Kyiv she beat Olympic champion Valentina Vezzali but tore a knee ligament. She still competed in Beijing, where she lost 10-9 in overtime to Viktoriya Nikishina and placed 19th.

She won gold in women's foil at the 2009 Maccabiah Games and had knee surgery in 2011. In 2016 she met the international standard for the Rio Olympics but not the Israeli one, so she was left off the team. Her appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport was rejected.

After giving birth, she went to court over her exclusion, and a rule later let female athletes keep their pay during pregnancy and maternity leave. She trains children in fencing in Acre and gives talks on fencing and self-confidence. She holds a bachelor's degree in political science and human resources and lives in Kiryat Bialik.
