Dror Feiler was born in 1951 in Tel Aviv

Feiler was born in Tel Aviv in 1951 to Eliezer and Pnina Feiler. His father was a left-wing activist, and his mother was among the founders of kibbutz Yad Hana. The family moved to Yad Hana in 1967. He served as a paratrooper in the IDF.

In 1973 he moved to Sweden and gave up his Israeli citizenship to become a Swedish citizen. He studied the interpretation of modern music from 1975 to 1977, musicology at Stockholm University from 1977 to 1978, and composition at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm from 1978 to 1983.

He composes works for orchestra, opera, chamber ensembles and electro-acoustic music. In 2004 he and his wife, the artist Gunilla Sköld-Feiler, showed the installation Snow White and The Madness of Truth, which featured a portrait of suicide bomber Hanadi Jaradat. Israel's ambassador to Sweden, Zvi Mazel, damaged it, and the event drew international attention.

In 2010 he was aboard a ship in the Gaza flotilla and was lightly injured in the face during the raid. Israel banned him from entry for 10 years. In 2011 he took part in the second flotilla, was arrested aboard the boat Dignité and was deported. In 2010 he ran for the Left Party in Stockholm.

In 2013 he petitioned against the ban in order to visit his ill mother, and the Jerusalem District Court rejected the petition. In January 2020 Israel allowed him a 2-week visit on condition of a bond.
