Dudu Geva was born in 1950 in Jerusalem
David (Dudu) Geva was born on March 14, 1950, in Jerusalem and grew up in the Rehavia neighborhood. His father, Aharon Geva, was a journalist, and his mother, Miriam Geva, was a teacher. He was named after his uncle, David Nishri, who was killed in 1936.
He studied at the Hebrew Gymnasium Rehavia and finished in 1968. As a student he drew many cartoons and wrote a weekly comics column for the children's paper Haaretz Shelanu.
He served in the IDF combat engineering corps and drew for the army weekly Bamahane. After his service he joined Israel TV's Channel One as an animator and set designer. He made animations for songs by Arik Einstein in 1974 and for the 1979 Eurovision held in Israel.
Geva published cartoons and satire columns in Haolam Hazeh, Hadashot, HaIr, Kol HaIr, Maariv and Haaretz. He produced dozens of books, many with the writer Kobi Niv, and created the Knight Zick with Hanoch Marmari. In 1991 Disney sued him over a duck strip that resembled Donald Duck.
In his later years he was active in alternative comics and underground culture. He died of a heart attack on February 15, 2005. A giant inflatable duck was later placed on the Tel Aviv Municipality building in his honor.
