Eli Toledano

Eli Toledano was born in 1952 in Meknes

Toledano was born in Meknes, Morocco, to Zohara and Eliyahu Toledano. His family immigrated to Israel in 1954 and settled in Migdal HaEmek. He was the sixth of 7 siblings.

He enlisted in August 1970 and was meant for pilot training, but he was assigned to the Combat Engineering Corps. He fought on the Golan Heights in the Yom Kippur War as a deputy company commander. He later commanded Battalion 605 in southern Lebanon and led engineering in the Northern Command.

After heading the military engineering school and studying in London, he was promoted to brigadier general in September 1995 and became Chief Combat Engineering Officer. He held the post until 1999. In that period the Yahalom unit was formed and IDF outposts in southern Lebanon were rebuilt with added protection.

In 2001 he became Haifa and North region manager at Amidar, and later northern district manager, until he retired in 2022. He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Haifa. He is married to Margalit and has 4 daughters.
