Erez Levanon was born in 1965 in Haifa
Erez Levanon was born in 1965 in the Bat Galim neighborhood of Haifa to Carmela and Mordechai Levanon. He studied at schools in Haifa, including the Shuv high school. As a teenager he joined the Hebrew Scouts, began playing guitar and electric organ, and formed a rock band with friends.
In the IDF he served in the Nahal, including at the Ortal outpost, and was a squad commander in the paratrooper Nahal.
After the army he began a spiritual search and became religious. He studied at Machon Meir, at the Od Yosef Chai yeshiva and at study halls in Hebron and at Rachel's Tomb. He married Dafna Hayardeni, and in 1993 they moved to Bat Ayin, where they had 3 children.
He co-hosted a show on Breslov Radio, wrote and composed songs, and released an album whose lyrics he wrote with his wife. He taught as a volunteer in Tel Aviv and helped found a Jewish center in India.
In 2007 he was killed in a stabbing attack by 2 teenagers from Beit Ummar while meditating alone near Bat Ayin. He was buried in Kfar Etzion. An outpost named after him was set up in 2009, and an album of his children's songs came out in 2020.
