Galit Chait was born in 1975 in Kfar Saba

Galit Chait was born on January 29, 1975, in Kfar Saba. Her family moved to New Jersey when she was young, and she began skating at age 8. Her father, Boris Chait, has headed the Israeli Ice Skating Federation since 2002.

She first tried ice dancing in Russia, where her father taught at a sports camp. She skated with Max Sevostianov in the early 1990s. She met Sergei Sakhnovski while both studied at the University of Delaware.

Chait and Sakhnovski competed for Israel from 1995 to 2006 and won bronze at the 2002 World Championships. They skated at the 1998, 2002 and 2006 Winter Olympics, placing 6th in 2002. A foot injury to Sakhnovski kept them out of the 2006-2007 season, and they retired.

After retiring she coached Alexandra and Roman Zaretsky, who won gold at the 2009 Winter Universiade. She also worked as a choreographer, including for Alexei Bychenko at the 2014 Olympics. She heads the Israeli figure skating team and lives in New Jersey.

In 2008 she married Francesco Moracci, a former Italian military policeman she met at the 2006 Olympics. They have two daughters and a son.
