Jenia Tversky was born Genia Gintsburg in 1904 in Baranovichi, then in the Russian Empire. Her parents, Menachem and Nechama Gintsburg, were Zionist activists. She studied law at the University of Warsaw.

In 1923 she married Josef Tversky, a veterinarian, and the couple moved to the Land of Israel. She later studied social work in Berlin. Their son was the psychologist Amos Tversky.

From 1932 to 1942 she headed the Jewish community's social services in Haifa, and then in Jerusalem until 1948. She helped found professional training for social work in the country and was active in the Histadrut. In 1945 she went to help in Holocaust survivors' camps in Europe.

She entered the Knesset for Mapai in 1951 and returned to it in 1959 and 1963 as a replacement member. Her work focused on welfare and the status of social workers. She died in 1964, and a street in Haifa bears her name.
