Nimrod Aloni

Nimrod Aloni was born in 1973 in Ein Karem

Aloni was born in 1973 in Ein Karem in Jerusalem. His family later moved to the Rafah Salient, and after the evacuation of Sinai he grew up in Moshav Nir Moshe. He studied at the Hebrew Reali School in Haifa and at the military boarding school for command.

He enlisted in the IDF in November 1991 and volunteered for the Paratroopers. He rose through command posts, leading the Paratroopers reconnaissance units, the Paratroopers Brigade, the Maglan unit and the Samaria Regional Brigade. The Itamar attack, in which 5 members of the Fogel family were killed, happened during his Samaria command, and he later took responsibility for the failures.

From 2020 to 2022 he commanded the Gaza Division, including during Operation Guardian of the Walls. He was promoted to major general in 2023 and took command of the Depth Corps and the military colleges. On October 7, 2023, Hamas falsely claimed to have captured him, and an IDF video the next day disproved the claim.

He finished his service as Depth Corps commander in September 2025. He holds a bachelor's degree in law and government from the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya and master's degrees from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the US National Defense University. He is married with 4 daughters.
