Eliezer Toledano

Eliezer Toledano was born in 1973 in Jerusalem

Toledano was born in Jerusalem in 1973, during the Yom Kippur War, to Haim and Linda, who came from Morocco. He grew up in Kiryat Motzkin and was active in the Bnei Akiva youth movement. He studied at a yeshiva in Kiryat Shmuel and then at the ORT Kiryat Bialik campus.

He joined the IDF in 1991 and served in the Paratroopers 101st Battalion, rising to company commander. He studied economics and philosophy at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem from 2000. He later commanded the 101st Battalion, the Maglan unit, the 226th Brigade and the Paratroopers Brigade.

From 2015 to 2018 he was military secretary to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He then commanded the Gaza Division until 2020. In 2021 he became a major general and head of the Southern Command, leading it in several operations in Gaza.

In 2023 he became head of the Strategy and Third-Circle Directorate, which included the Iranian arena. During the Swords of Iron war he took part in war planning and coordinated international defense during the Iranian attack of April 2024. He announced his retirement in December 2024 and left when the directorate was closed in 2025.
