Shlomo Kramer was born in 1966 in Tel Aviv
Kramer was born in Tel Aviv in 1966 and grew up in Ramat Gan, the youngest of three brothers. His grandfather built flour mills, and his father worked as technology manager at one of them. As a youth he worked on mainframes and sold video games.
He served in Unit 8200 of the IDF as a researcher and section head. He later earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics and computer science from Tel Aviv University and a master's degree in computer science from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
In 1993 he co-founded Check Point with Gil Shwed and Marius Nacht. The company brought firewall software to the commercial market. In 2002 he founded WebCohort, later renamed Imperva, with Mickey Boodaei and Amichai Shulman, and served as its CEO until 2014.
In 2006 he founded Trusteer with Mickey Boodaei, and IBM bought it in 2013. In 2015 he founded Cato Networks with Gur Shatz and became its CEO. He has also invested in many security startups, including Palo Alto Networks and Exabeam.
Kramer has five children and lives in Neve Tzedek in Tel Aviv. In 2025 he called for stronger regulation of social networks, and in a December 2025 CNBC interview he called for limits on the First Amendment, which drew criticism from free-speech advocates.
