Viatcheslav Moshe Kantor

Moshe Kantor is a Russian, British and Israeli businessman who leads the Acron fertilizer group and serves as President of the European Jewish Congress.

Viatcheslav Moshe Kantor was born in 1953 in Moscow

Viatcheslav Moshe Kantor was born on 8 September 1953 and grew up in Moscow. He holds citizenship of Russia, the United Kingdom and Israel.

He graduated from the Moscow Aviation Institute in 1976 and earned a PhD in spacecraft automatic control systems in 1981. He then worked as a scientist and headed a research laboratory at the institute.

From 1989 to 1993 he was Director General of the telecom company Intelmas. From 1996 to 2000 he advised the Chairman of the Russian Federation Council on economics. He built his wealth leading the Acron Group, a mineral fertilizer producer.

He founded the World Holocaust Forum in 2005 and headed the Russian Jewish Congress from 2005 to 2009. He led the European Jewish Congress from 2007 to 2022 and founded a center for the study of contemporary European Jewry at Tel Aviv University in 2010. He also serves as Chancellor of the Yad Vashem council.

After the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Britain and the European Union placed sanctions on him. The EU and Switzerland removed him from their lists in March 2025, and in May 2025 he was elected to a fifth term as EJC President. He is married to Anna Kantor.
