Glazer was born in Tel Aviv on 29 December 1927 to Zehava and Arieh, and had four brothers. He grew up in north Tel Aviv, on Ussishkin Street near the Maccabiah Stadium.
As a youth he joined the Haganah. During Black Sabbath in 1946 the British Mandate authorities arrested him, and he was held for about 3 months at the Rafah detention camp. He later fought in the War of Independence with the Haganah.
He started in the Maccabi Michael Tel Aviv children's team and moved up to the Maccabi Tel Aviv senior team in 1945. He began as a defender and soon became a center forward wearing number 9. In the 1951/1952 season he scored 27 league goals, a Maccabi Tel Aviv club record for one season until Eran Zahavi broke it.
With Maccabi Tel Aviv he won 6 league titles and 6 State Cups. For Israel he scored 18 goals in 35 international matches, and the team was Asian Cup runner-up in 1956 and 1960. He scored a hat-trick in a 5-1 win over Turkey in 1950 and played against the Soviet Union in 1956.
