Yehuda Wilk was born in 1949 in Tel Aviv

Yehuda Wilk was born in 1949 in Tel Aviv and attended Ironi Dalet high school. He joined the IDF in 1967 and served in an armored reconnaissance unit. He earned a law degree from Tel Aviv University in 1975.

He joined the Israel Police in 1971 and held investigation and prosecution posts. He commanded the Kfar Saba and Petah Tikva stations, then the Ayalon and Yarkon regions. In 1986 he was named to the team that examined the Shin Bet's conduct in the Bus 300 affair.

In 1993 he commanded the Southern District and then the Jerusalem District. He retired in 1994 and ran the Avner insurance company until 1997. In 1998 he returned to the police as Inspector General.

As Inspector General he continued a broad reorganization of the police, which included new units against car theft. He headed the police during the October 2000 events, in which 13 Arab citizens were killed by police fire. The Or Commission found he had failed professionally and recommended he not hold internal security posts.

He left the police in January 2001 and that year became chief executive of Derech Eretz, the operator of Highway 6. He was married with 3 children. He died of cardiac arrest on March 17, 2019, and was buried in Ra'anana.
