Yosef Sorinov was born in 1946 in Legnica

Sorinov was born on 17 May 1946 in Legnica, Poland. As a youth he did athletics and was picked for Poland's young athletics team, and he also played goalkeeper for a second division football club. Facing service in the Polish army, his parents sent him to Israel.

In January 1965 he signed with Beitar Tel Aviv and soon won the Asian youth cup with Israel's youth team. He then moved to Maccabi Netanya, where he helped the club win its first league title in the 1970/1971 season. In 1971 he left for Beitar Jerusalem after an incident in which he sat on the ball during a game.

At Beitar Jerusalem he set a club record of 928 minutes without conceding, over 10 games in the 1973/1974 season. He played there until the 1974/1975 season, when the team lost the State Cup final. He then played for Hapoel Ramat Gan and Maccabi Tel Aviv, which won the double in his first season, and retired in 1978.

With the national team he was mostly the second goalkeeper and played 19 games. In 1977 he was the first choice goalkeeper in qualifying for the 1978 World Cup. Rumors that he bet on games were never proven and he denied them, though a 1971 committee found grounds for suspicion.

In later life he lived in Jerusalem and ran a delicatessen. He died on 1 February 2019 and asked to donate his body to science.
