Zipora Rubin-Rosenbaum was born in 1946

Zipora Rubin was born in 1946 in Tel Aviv, to her parents and an older sister. As a young child she contracted polio, which left her left leg paralyzed and in a brace. She has said she was treated badly by other children, and she turned to sport at 14.

Her first coaches were Edna Medalia and Yitzhak Levy. In 1963 a bank hired her despite its concerns, which opened the way for other disabled people to work there.

She first competed at the 1964 Paralympics in Tokyo, winning a medal in each of her 5 events, including gold in the shot put with a world record. She won javelin gold at every Games from 1968 to 1988 and also won medals in shot put, discus and pentathlon.

She played on the national women's wheelchair basketball team at the Paralympics from 1968 to 1988. Her final Games were in Barcelona in 1992, where she placed eighth in the javelin.
