Zvi Feldman was born in 1956 in Tel Aviv
Zvi Feldman was born in Tel Aviv on December 29, 1956. He was the eldest of 4 children of Avraham and Pnina. His father came to Israel from Europe after losing his whole family in the Holocaust, and his mother came from Morocco. He was named after his paternal grandfather, who was murdered in the Holocaust.
After his service in Brigade 401 of the Armored Corps, he worked as a teacher of field and heritage studies in the Tel Aviv district. He had been accepted to university for the fall semester.
When the First Lebanon War began, he joined his unit and fought in a tank with commander Hezi Shai and driver Zachary Baumel. On June 11, 1982, he fought in the Battle of Sultan Yacoub, where 20 Israeli soldiers were killed. Feldman, Baumel and Yehuda Katz were listed as missing for many years.
The IDF and his family tried for years to learn his fate. In 2004, a plan by the chief military rabbi to declare the 3 missing soldiers fallen with unknown burial place was dropped after the families objected. On May 11, 2025, his body was brought back to Israel in an operation by the Mossad and the IDF, and he was buried in the military cemetery in Holon.
