Zvi Yehuda was born in 1887 in Uman

Yehuda was born Zvi Zaltzman in Uman, in the Russian Empire, in 1887. As a young man he was active in the Zionist movement. He helped found the youth groups Degel Zion and Tzeiri Zion in his town.

In 1906 he moved to the Land of Israel and worked as a laborer in Judea and Ben Shemen. He then turned to settlement and was among the founders of Kinneret in 1908 and of Degania. He also helped found the Hapoel Hatzair party, sat on its central committee and helped set up the movement in the United States.

During World War I he was a member of the Galilee agricultural workers' body. In 1920 he went to Europe to help organize the Third Aliyah. On his return he helped found Nahalal, served on the secretariat of the Moshavim Movement, directed the Moshav fund and was active in the Histadrut.

In 1949 he was elected to the first Knesset on the Mapai list. He sat on the economics, House and labor committees. He was not on the Mapai list in 1951 and went back to work on his farm in Nahalal, where he was later buried.
