9א. הארכת תקופת כהונה
תיקון: תשנ״ב־2
(א)הכנסת לא תאריך את תקופת כהונתה אלא בחוק שנתקבל ברוב של שמונים חברי הכנסת ואם נתקיימו נסיבות מיוחדות המונעות עריכת בחירות בעיתן; תקופת ההארכה לא תעלה על הזמן המתחייב מהנסיבות האמורות; בחוק כאמור ייקבע מועד הבחירות.
(ב)מבלי לגרוע מהוראות סעיף 34, רשאית הכנסת, בהחלטה ברוב חבריה, להקדים את מועד הבחירות שנקבע לפי סעיף קטן (א), ובלבד שהמועד החדש לא יהיה מוקדם מהמועד לקיום הבחירות לכנסת לפי סעיף 9.
