נודע לעובד סוציאלי לפי חוק הנוער (טיפול והשגחה) על קטין נזקק, רשאי הוא להשתמש בסמכויות לפי סעיף 3 לחוק הסעד (סדרי דין בעניני קטינים, חולי נפש ונעדרים), תשט״ו–1955, אף שלא נצטווה על ידי בית המשפט.
