4. חובת ביטוח
בעל כלי שיט המוביל למעלה מ־2,000 טון שמן בצובר כמטען, חייב להחזיק פוליסת ביטוח או בטוחה כספית שהם בתוקף, ולפי חוק זה, בסכום שלא יפחת מהסכום הנדרש לכיסוי חבותו לנזק זיהום, בהתאם לקבוע בתוספת הראשונה.
