סמכותו של פקיד־המכס להבטיח טובין כוללת גם הגפתם של כַּווֹת ופתחים אחרים המוליכים לבטן האניה, נעילתם של טובין, חיתומם, סימונם וכל דרכי הבטחה אחרים וכן סילוקם למחסן המכס.
