המנהל הכללי של המשרד ידווח לוועדת הכלכלה של הכנסת, אחת לשנה, בדיון שתקיים הוועדה בהשתתפותו, על עמידה ביעדים לייצור חשמל מאנרגיה מתחדשת שנקבעו בהחלטת הממשלה, וכן על יישום תכנית העבודה הרב־שנתית שגיבש השר ועל המלצות הוועדה הבין־משרדית שהוגשו לשר לפי הוראות פרק זה, בין אם החליט לקבלן ובין אם לאו.
