8. הוראת מעבר
על אף האמור בסעיף 6 ימשיך לחול חוק תשי״ט על סגן ראש רשות מקומית המכהן ערב פרסומו של חוק זה שלא במשכורת משום שויתר עליה, וכן על שאיריו, אולם אם ימשיך לכהן כסגן ראש רשות מקומית שלא במשכורת גם לאחר יום פרסום תוצאות הבחירות הראשונות לא תבוא בחשבון לצורך קביעת הזכות לגמלה ושיעורה אלא תקופת כהונתו עד יום פרסום תוצאות הבחירות הראשונות.
