4. קצוות מידת־אורך
למידת־אורך שאינה עשויה ממתכת יהיו בשני קצוותיה שפיות־מתכת, שסומררו אליה הדק היטב. למידת־אורך מעץ עם ידית על קצה מותר שלא תהיה שפית מתכת באותו קצה, אם בקצה הידית הסמוך לקצה המידה יש שקע לאצבע.
