Khamenei adviser Mokhber says Iran's deterrence now reaches beyond its region
Mohammad Mokhber, an adviser to Iran's Supreme Leader, said the location of a threat no longer sets where Iran responds, signalling a wider defence doctrine.

Mohammad Mokhber, an adviser to Iran's Supreme Leader, has said that Iran's defence doctrine is undergoing rapid change and that the place a threat comes from will no longer determine where Iran responds to it. The Israeli broadcaster N12 carried the remarks in a post attributed to its correspondent Sapir Lipkin, quoting Mokhber as saying the geographic space of a threat no longer dictates the geographic space of the reply.
Abu Ali Express, an Israeli Telegram channel that follows Arab and Iranian affairs, published a longer version, which it described as a post Mokhber wrote online. In that version he goes further, saying Iran's deterrence range has been redefined and now extends past the regional sphere, and that the origin, scale and location of a threat no longer limit Iran's deterrence calculations.
What Mokhber said
Both reports were published in Hebrew, and both present the statement as a direct quotation. The wording differs slightly between the two translations, but the core point is the same: Iran's response to a threat is no longer bound to the area where that threat arises.
According to the fuller text reported by Abu Ali Express, Mokhber made three linked claims. First, that Iran's defence doctrine is shifting quickly. Second, that as a consequence the geography of a threat no longer fixes the geography of the response. Third, that Iran's deterrence range has been redefined so that it now goes beyond the region, with neither the source of a threat, nor its size, nor where it materialises acting as a constraint on Iranian thinking about deterrence.
The N12 post carries only the first two of these points.

Who is speaking
Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, is the highest authority in the Islamic Republic, with the final word on matters of state and command over the armed forces. Statements from figures in his circle are often read abroad as signals of official thinking, though an adviser's public comments are not the same as a formal change of policy announced by the state.
Both reports identify Mokhber as an adviser to the Supreme Leader. Neither report describes what his advisory role covers, or whether his remarks were made in an official capacity.
Why the phrasing matters
Deterrence, in military terms, is the effort to prevent an adversary from acting by convincing it that the cost of a response would be too high. A country's deterrence range describes how far it is understood to be willing and able to project that response.

Mokhber's comments, as reported, frame Iran's deterrence as no longer confined to its own neighbourhood. For Israeli and Western audiences, that framing raises the question of which countries or areas Iran now considers within reach of a response. The statement as quoted does not name any.
The question of Europe
Abu Ali Express headed its post with a question asking whether this amounted to an Iranian threat against Europe. That framing is the channel's own. Europe does not appear in the quoted text in either report, and Mokhber, as quoted, did not name any specific country, region or adversary. N12's post made no reference to Europe.
Readers should treat the suggestion of a European dimension as interpretation by one outlet rather than as something Mokhber is reported to have said.
What the reports do not say
Several basic details are missing from both accounts. Neither report gives the original language of the statement or links to the original post, so the Hebrew versions cannot be checked against Mokhber's own words. Abu Ali Express says he wrote it online but does not name the platform; N12 does not say where or how the statement was made.
Neither report explains what prompted the remarks, whether they respond to a particular event, or whether any other Iranian official has echoed them. Neither says whether the doctrinal shift Mokhber describes has been formalised by Iran's government or military, or whether it reflects his own assessment.
There is also no reaction reported from Israel, from European governments or from any other party. The reports do not describe any change in Iranian military deployments or capabilities linked to the statement.

How we checked this
The core quote, that the geography of a threat no longer sets the geography of Iran's response, was reported by both N12 and Abu Ali Express in Hebrew. The fuller passage on deterrence extending beyond the region, and the question about Europe, appear only in the Abu Ali Express post; we have not seen Mokhber's original statement.
