Overnight sea searches off Haifa for young diver who did not resurface

Search teams spent the night scanning the water off Haifa, on Israel's northern Mediterranean coast, for a young man who entered the sea to dive in the afternoon and did not come back out. Ynet reported that the missing man is a resident of Haifa in his twenties, and that he went into the water at Hof HaStudentim, the Students' Beach, before disappearing from view.

According to the same report, a large number of rescue forces joined the operation to locate him and a helicopter was scrambled to assist. The Israeli news outlet News.co.il described the effort in a short bulletin as extensive scans for a missing person at the Haifa seafront, published while the search was under way that evening.
