Assaf Amdursky started as the singer of Taarovet Ascot and went on to write, play and produce his own albums
Assaf Amdursky was born in Tel Aviv in 1971. He began in the late 1980s as singer and guitarist of Taarovet Ascot, with Amir "Jango" Russiano and Yirmi Kaplan, whose only album (1991) had the radio hits VeUlai Tavo Eizo Nechama and HaCheder HaIntimi Sheli. His solo debut followed in 1994, with Yekirati and Ahava Chadasha, and in 1999 Menoim Shketim, a more electronic album with 15 Dakot and Chalom Kehe, went gold.
Kadima Achora (2005), produced with the rapper Pushtak, gave new readings of Israeli songs of the 1980s, and Harei At (2008) also went gold. With Israel Gurion he made Sharim HaDudaim, a show and then an album (2013) of the HaDudaim duo's songs that went gold, and a second album in 2018. He has produced albums for Arik Sinai and Yahli Sobol, and in 2008 he won the Ophir award for best original film music.
In 2016 he joined the judges of HaKokhav HaBa L'Eurovision. In 2021 he released 432, eight songs he wrote on a beach in Sinai, and MEFORAK, remixes of songs from across his career, and in 2023 he came third in The Masked Singer and released Horeget with Ninet Tayeb and Garden City Movement. He also writes music for film and television, from Nina's Tragedies to the series Aviram Katz (2023).
