Avi Nussbaum went from amateur nights in the army to the writers' room of Eretz Nehederet
Avi Nussbaum was born in Kfar Saba in 1980 and grew up there. He started doing stand-up while still in the army, at amateur nights in the Camel Comedy Club, and became known in 2004 on HaAkademia LeTzchok, a Channel 2 reality show for amateur comedians.
In 2005 he joined the writing team of Eretz Nehederet. On television he has hosted Makat Medina with Uri Hizkiya, Shabbat Tzchok, the hidden-camera show Nir'e Otcha with Shai Goldstein and, from 2017, Eize Tzchok on Keshet 12, where each week he watches favourite clips with a well-known comedian.
On radio he co-hosted the night show Tziporei Laila Menab'ot on Army Radio with David Lipshitz. His play Mashkanta opened at Habima in 2025, starring Yael Levental and Yuval Segal, and in August 2025 Keshet 12 aired a TV special of his stand-up. His new show is about everything that is funny about midlife.
