Hanoch Daum went from a newspaper column to a stand-up show about his own life
Hanoch Daum was born in 1975 in Ramat Magshimim. He began his media career in 1998 as a culture columnist at Maariv, was the paper's TV critic from 2002 to 2004, and went on to work in television: at Channel 10 he was editor-in-chief of the daily programme HaYom SheHaya. He also writes a column in Yedioth Ahronoth's 7 Days magazine.
On screen he hosted the documentary-reality series Yasman on yes from 2019 to 2022, and Taboo on Kan 11 from 2022. In 2015 he started a daily morning show on Radio Tel Aviv and began touring the country with his first stand-up show, Hanoch Daum Ochel Et HaRosh.
In 2018 he opened the stand-up show HaChaim Hem Tkufa Kasha (Life Is a Tough Phase). The name went on to a self-published book in 2020, a sequel in 2022 and a comedy-drama series on Keshet 12 in 2024, which he wrote and in which he plays himself; it earned him Israeli TV Academy nominations for lead actor and for screenplay. In 2026 he is touring a 50th-birthday edition of the show.
