Danny Sanderson founded Kaveret in 1973 and is counted among the fathers of Israeli rock

Danny Sanderson was born in 1950 in Kfar Blum and grew up from the age of ten in New York, where he studied at the High School of Music and Art and played in his first bands. In 1968 he came back to Israel and joined the Nahal army band as its guitarist, where he met Meir Fenigstein, Alon Oleartchik and Gidi Gov.

In 1973 he founded Kaveret and wrote most of the songs on its first album, Sipurei Pugi, which became one of the best-selling Israeli records, and in 1974 Kaveret sang his Natati La Chayai for Israel at Eurovision. After Kaveret he founded Gazoz (1978) and Doda (1980) with Gidi Gov, and wrote and composed all their songs.

His solo career began with Begodel Tivi (1982) and runs through Hacham Al Ktanim (1987), Ze HaKol Bishvilech, his 1990 duet with Mazi Cohen, HaLo Noda (1997), Mikan HaDerech (2017) and Gluim VeNistarim (2022). He has also written seven books, played in Kaveret's reunions up to the last in 2013, and in 2021 received AMI's lifetime achievement award.
