Dafna Armoni sang as a soloist in army bands before her 1986 debut album went platinum
Dafna Armoni was born in 1956 on Kibbutz Revivim. From 1974 she sang in the Armored Corps band, as the soloist of BeIkvei HaDerech, which became the corps' anthem, and then as the soloist of the Air Force troupe, whose BeToch at the 1977 Israel Song Festival first made her known.
In 1978 she played Noa in the film HaLahaka, singing Shalva with Gali Atari, and in 1979 she performed with Arik Einstein and Shalom Hanoch and appeared in the film Yotzim Kavua. Her 1984 single Ela, written by Shalom Hanoch, reached No. 12 on Galei Tzahal's annual chart, and her debut album, Dafna Armoni (1986), mostly written by Hanoch, went platinum with Ohevet Otcha, Ozevet Otcha and Hi Tikach Otcha.
Sipur BeJeans reached No. 5 in 1989, and on her second album, Isha Achat Pachot (1992), she wrote and composed most of the songs. Since the 1990s she has also painted, with more than 20 exhibitions, and acted at Habima. In 2019 she won Festival HaShir HaBa with Shifcha At UMalka, a duet with Gabi Berlin, and in 2026 she began a new show of army band songs with Meir Suissa.
