Jessica Kirson studied social work and meant to become a therapist

Jessica Kirson was born and raised in South Orange, New Jersey. She studied family studies at the University of Maryland and then social work at New York University, with the intention of becoming a therapist.

She performs regularly at New York comedy clubs, among them Gotham Comedy Club, the Laugh Factory and the Improv, and has appeared on The Tonight Show, The View and Kevin Can Wait. Her one-hour special Talking to Myself, executive produced by Bill Burr, debuted on Comedy Central in 2019.

In 2016 she acted in the Robert De Niro film The Comedian and also worked on it as a consultant, producer and writer. She produced Hysterical, an FX documentary about women in stand-up that premiered at SXSW in 2021, contributes prank calls to The Howard Stern Show, and released the special I'm the Man in 2025.
