Moshik Afia started in 1993 with mournful Turkish-style songs before turning to Mizrahi pop

Moshik Afia was born in 1974 in Holon. He began his career in 1993, at 19, singing in the melancholy style known in Israel as "depression music", and later moved to a lighter sound. His first two albums, in 1995 and 1996, did well with fans of the Turkish style; the first, Geshem Tiftef, gave him several hits, among them the title song, Godel HaKe'ev and Ko'ev Achi, a duet with Kobi Peretz.

Sach HaKol Neshika, from his 1997 album Sipur Ahava, became a radio hit and took him to the television show HaRishon BaBidur, where he reached a wide audience. He established himself in Mizrahi music with Chalom Matok (2002), whose title song became one of the most played in Israel, and about a year later came Ani Lo Zamin and the album Yesh Li Otach, which went platinum within about three weeks, with more than 40,000 copies sold. In 2009 the title song of Mabat SheNogea put him back on the radio.

On television he took part in the reality show Pa'am BaChaim 2 and acted in the telenovela HaShir Shelanu in 2006, won the second VIP season of Big Brother in 2015 and competed on The Masked Singer in 2021 as the Rugelach. He stepped away from music in 2022 and announced his return in 2024, and in 2026 he released the album Sipur Chayai and the live album Menora 2026.
