Shalom Asayag won first place on stage at 17 and later turned his childhood into a TV hit

Shalom Asayag was born in 1969 and grew up in Tirat Carmel. At 17 he won first place in an entertainment show at Ir HaNoar in Tel Aviv, in 1992 he began performing stand-up across Israel, and in 1993 his slot on Dudu Topaz's Sofshavua made him known to a wide audience.

In 1997 he won ACUM's Golden Feather for his show Asayag LeHochma Shtika, the first stand-up comedian to receive it, and in 2009 he became the first to put on a stand-up show at the Caesarea Theatre. From 2008 to 2013 he hosted Tzchok MeAvoda, a launch pad for young comedians, and since 2005 he has performed his third show, Stand Up BeMeitavo.

In 2013 he created Shnot HaShmonim with Meni Asayag and the writer Lior Fried, a comedy about his childhood in Tirat Carmel that ran for five seasons and led to Shnot HaTishim and the films HaHilula (2023) and HaHilula 2 (2025). For the lead role in Kan 11's Manayek, Izzy Bachar, he twice won the TV Academy Award for best lead actor in a drama, and in 2026 he created and directed HaMa'abara.
