Labor was active from 1968 to 2024.
The Israeli Labor Party was founded in January 1968 by the merger of Mapai, Ahdut HaAvoda and Rafi, the parties of the labour movement that had led the country since it was founded. Its leaders included the prime ministers Levi Eshkol, Golda Meir, Yitzhak Rabin, Shimon Peres and Ehud Barak.
Every prime minister until 1977 came from Labor or the parties before it. In July 2024 it merged with Meretz into The Democrats, led by Yair Golan.
