Election 2026

The results of the 27 October vote

The Ministry of Education's register lists 5,842 schools, and this page finds any of them.

Each school has a page with its school number, its stream and stage, and for 2,867 of them the Meitzav scores and climate surveys the testing authority published.

Jerusalem has the most schools, and these are the 24 towns with the most.

The other 559 towns, from A to Z

About 51% of the schools are state schools, 34% are Haredi and 15% are state religious.

These are schools, not pupils: in the Ministry's table an average state school has about 480 pupils and an average Haredi school about 230.

These are the questions people ask about Israel's schools.

What is a school number in Israel?

It is the six-digit number the Ministry of Education's register gives each school, called semel mosad in Hebrew. Two schools with the same name have different numbers.

How is a school's number found?

The search on this page finds it by the school's name, its town or part of the number. Every town also has a list of its schools with their numbers.

What is the Meitzav?

It is the national test of grades 5 and 8 in Hebrew or Arabic, maths and English, with science and technology in grade 8. The National Authority for Measurement and Evaluation in Education runs it, and its scale stood at 500 for all schools in 2008.

What is the school climate survey?

It asks pupils from grade 5 and teachers about life at school: how they feel there, how teachers and pupils get on, and how much violence there is. Each school page shows its newest year against all schools.

What do state, state religious and Haredi mean?

They are the school's stream on the register. State schools and state religious schools are mostly official, the second with a religious curriculum, and Haredi schools are the ultra-Orthodox stream, most of them recognised but not official.

Why are the scores from some years ago?

The testing authority publishes a school's results for some years only, and each figure here carries its year. The Ministry's count of pupils ends in 2015.

The register of schools is the Ministry of Education's, read on 2 November 2026. The Meitzav scores and the school climate surveys, from 2008 to 2020, are the National Authority for Measurement and Evaluation in Education's. The pupils, grades and year of founding are the Ministry's table for 2011 to 2015.
