Dalton Winery was founded in 1995 by Matti Haruni and his son Alex, who saw the Upper Galilee as a region for quality wine. By its own account it made its first wines with farmers of nearby Kerem Ben Zimra, grew from 300,000 bottles a year to a million under the winemaker Na'ama Sorkin, who joined in 2002, and now farms about 800 dunams of vineyards across the Galilee, most of them 650 to 900 metres above sea level. It calls itself an estate winery; Alex Haruni is its owner and Guy Eshel its winemaker. Its visitors' centre in the Dalton industrial park pours tastings of the winery's wines and of its premium series, with platters of cow's and goat's cheeses, breads and dips of its own Dalton Deli label, a mozzarella pizza or Galilee bread with olive oil.
