An Asian fusion restaurant with a sushi bar and a cocktail bar in Eilat's Tourist Centre, open since the 1980s, first as Mai Thai

Ginger is an Asian fusion restaurant with a sushi bar and a cocktail bar in the Tourist Centre on Derech Yotam, in the heart of Eilat's nightlife area. It has been open since the 1980s: ynet wrote in 2017 that it had operated in Eilat since 1986 and that some know it by its earlier name, Mai Thai, and the company behind it, registered in 2005, is still called מאי תאי ג'ינג'ר בע"מ. In 2010 ynet named Adi Ben Yakir, who also owned the floating Pago Pago restaurant, as its owner, and in 2020 ynet and Walla named Ronen Mor as the owner of Ginger and Pago Pago. By its own account the owners pick the Thai cooks in its kitchen and bring them over, and the room, in clean modern lines with armchairs and sofas, is a quiet, air-conditioned place by day with a view of the mountains, and a bar-restaurant at night, with seats at the bar or at tables. Its menu runs from gyoza, steamed buns and soups such as tom yam, ramen and massaman to Thai salads, curries and stir-fried rice and noodle dishes that come vegetarian or with tofu, chicken, beef or seafood, chef's dishes such as a Japanese sirloin steak and goose breast in miso, and a long sushi list. There is a children's menu, a vegan and a gluten-free section, a house lager made for it with ginger, lemongrass and yuzu, sake, Japanese whisky, and a small shop of green teas, teapots and sake sets. From Sunday to Friday it serves a business lunch until 16:00, and it delivers through its own ordering page and through Wolt. mako's 2026 guide to Eilat called it an old and much-loved Asian restaurant with a huge menu and good sushi, a real crowd-pleaser; mako's writer singled out its dumplings and sashimi platter in 2024, and Rest's Eilat guide, updated that year, passes on locals' tips for the ramen or the Thai soup, the California maki, the cashew chicken, the Exotica curry and the pad Thai.

Sources disagree on these hours

These are the hours on its website, every day from Sunday to Saturday, and its booking schedule on Tabit, last changed in April 2025, says the same. Its Google listing, as its Tabit record copied it on 2 September 2026 and as Wanderlog shows it, closes at 22:00 every day, and it takes orders on Wolt from 12:00 to 22:00. The tourism site eilat.city gives 12:00 to 23:00 on its Hebrew page and 12:00 to 03:00 on its English page, and d.co.il gives 12:00 to 23:00 every day.
