33 Maskit Street, Herzliya Pituach, Herzliya

A brasserie in the Herzliya Pituach business district, with leather and wood furniture, big mirrors and a large bar at its centre, open since 2004 and run by the group behind Tel Aviv's Café Noir

Sebastian is a brasserie at 33 Maskit Street, in the industrial and high-tech zone of Herzliya Pituach, which by its own account opened in 2004. It was founded by the restaurateur and artist Rafi Bader, who had opened Café Noir on Ahad Ha'am Street in Tel Aviv in 1997 with Gideon Eliyahu and has since died, as mako and Café Noir's own website tell it. mako wrote in 2024 that Sebastian was the group's first step outside Tel Aviv, in the early 2000s, and that Bader had said about a decade earlier that it sold even more schnitzels than Café Noir. It still belongs to the Noir group, with Café Noir and Augustine, a brasserie in Ra'anana, and its website links both; its house wines, ViNoir, are made for the group by the Pelter winery. In its own words it is a modern brasserie rooted in a classic tradition of places for a good meal at any hour, from a bustling lunch to an elegant evening, with leather and wood furniture, large mirrors, art on the walls and a big bar at its heart for cocktails and wine; its English site quotes Bader: "a restaurant must stimulate all the senses". The menu runs from carpaccios, arancini and a chicken liver terrine to pastas, burgers, steaks and fish, with "Café Noir's schnitzel" among the main courses, and it makes its own bread, pastries and desserts. From Sunday to Thursday a lunch menu is served from 12:00 to 17:00, the hours in which it takes Cibus and 10bis meal cards. mako's Rita Goldstein found it full early on a weekday evening in December 2024, with people from the offices nearby at the bar, families with children and diners waiting at the door, and called its hamburger the best in the area and its tiramisu one of the best in the country. PassportNews wrote in 2023 that its opening in 2004 set off a line of brasseries across the country, and Rest's magazine put it on its list of Herzliya's luxury restaurants in January 2026 as one of the pioneers of the brasserie in Israel.
