6 Gad Machnes Street, Netanya promenade, Netanya

A kosher dairy restaurant on Netanya's cliff-top promenade, with breakfast until midday, then pastas, taboon pizzas and fish, and the sea in view

HaYekev, "the winery" in Hebrew, is a kosher dairy restaurant at 6 Gad Machnes Street, on the promenade that runs along the cliff top in the centre of Netanya, about 200 metres from Kikar HaAtzmaut. In its own words it sits on the Netanya promenade, offers good food with a view of the sea and a wide choice of drinks, starters, dairy main courses, fish and desserts, and is decorated in pastel colours that give it a romantic, relaxed air; its jobs page calls it a family company. The kitchen is largely Italian, with risotto, handmade ravioli, gnocchi, lasagne, and focaccias and pizzas from the taboon, beside whole sea bream and sea bass, salmon fillet, a fish platter, a salmon burger, shakshuka and a Yemenite kubaneh, and from Sunday to Friday it serves breakfast until 12:30. Its website gives its kashrut as the Netanya rabbinate's mehadrin supervision with Chatam Sofer of Petah Tikva, and the town's religious council lists it as dairy and mehadrin. It closes for Shabbat after 14:00 on Friday and opens again an hour after Shabbat ends. Debbest's guide to kosher sea-view restaurants describes a large outside terrace on the promenade overlooking the sea. It takes private events in VIP rooms for 30 to 150 people, and the Ministry of Religious Services' kashrut portal lists The View / HaKerem, a kosher meat restaurant and events hall at the same address, under the same company, בענבי היקב בע"מ. A promotional piece on Rest in January 2022 said it had been on the promenade for more than 15 years and that the singer Avi Halfon had performed there once a week for 15 years; mynet wrote in October 2022 that it offered more than 60 wines, that a guest artist played on Thursday evenings and that a table on Friday was best booked ahead. Its Google listing, as Wanderlog copies it, has 9,202 reviews, more than any other restaurant on Wanderlog's lists for Netanya.
